“Strictly Fun” came about after seeing how Shenley Seniors and a group of young people enjoyed dancing together at a previous event. Our aim was to bring different age groups and abilities together to promote better relationships, particularly to address loneliness and isolation for the older people. Funding that we received from Heart of England Community Foundation allowed us to support the Shenley Senior Group as they taught pupils from Bellfield Primary School and from Baskerville School pupils some of the dances that they did in their youth – such as jive, Macarena and barn dance.
